Garage Sales
This is a quick way of getting some cash in your hand as well as getting rid of all the things in your house that you no longer have the need for. Thinking practically in such cases is more beneficial than thinking emotionally. Avoid storing unnecessary junk or furniture or knickknack in your house that occupy space, need maintenance and do not serve any useful purpose in your house. Best to give it away to someone who can find good use for it. You don’t need any money to host a garage sale, and it serves two purposes at one time.
Small Home Businesses
Small home businesses that require no investment can be a great way of adding to your income. Maybe you could start selling your paintings, or if you have good culinary skills, then maybe you can start making cakes and other food stuffs. You can also try selling your photography skills and photos to magazines or newspapers, if you are interested in photography and have a personal photo collection. Or you can babysit for people’s kids, like a mini creche, where you can look after people’s kids for a couple of hours every day. And, if you have hobbies that can make money, cash on them.
Temporary Jobs
If you are good with the written word, there are sites that allow you to generate content for them, for some pay. Or, you could get a temporary job at a department or food outlet, for a couple of months to tide you over. There are many other small jobs that you can take up, like working at a library or a bookstore, or take part/volunteer in clinical research studies at a local hospital, start blogs, take care of people’s houses when they are out-of-town (water their plants, clean their houses, mow their lawns etc.) Start a blog or monetize your already existing blog, walk people’s dogs for them, clean driveways, shovel snow, etc. You can come up with a lot of ideas once you get started in the direction.
Home Tutoring
Starting coaching classes in your home is a great way to supplement your income. Start classes of subjects that you like and that you are good at. Guitar classes, Math and English classes, arts and crafts classes for kids etc. The options are endless. Put all your creativity and talents to good use and spread the knowledge. This can also turn out to be a successful way of self employment, and a great long term venture.

If you are in a financial mess and aren’t sure what to do, enlisting the help of consumer credit counseling services is a good idea. These agencies have expert counselors who will provide you professional assistance in devising a debt management plan. In most cases a counselor will help you become debt free within 12-24 months.
Financial experts advise that if you are looking to hire agencies that provide credit counseling for payday loans look for non profit agencies. Choose an agency that is accredited by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) or is a member of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA). It is advisable to look for free credit counseling services. If you are in financial turmoil choose one that’s connected to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
The agency will appoint a qualified counselor who will take stock of your financial situation by personally meeting you or talking to you over the phone. The debt counseling will include tips on money management, negotiating with your creditors, and financial awareness programs. The best credit counseling services will also advise you on debt consolidation for payday loans so that you don’t have to pay high interest rates.
You can get a list of approved agencies that provide credit counseling for payday loans and other financial situation from the government’s department of justice website. Another thing to remember is to hire an agency which will charge you after the settlement is done.

Many people have little or no mortgage on their properly and they are considering using their property to obtain a cash lump sum, a monthly income or a mixture of both. There are various methods in which this can be achieved and the common catch all term to describe this procedure is Equity-Release or Home Reversion. Essentially, they will forfeit part or all of their home ownership in order to obtain cash benefits now. However, the homeowners retain the right to live in their property for the rest of their lives, if they choose the right type of scheme.
Get it wrong and you could pay a heavy price. A recent office of Fair Trading report stated that there is concern that “Sale and Rent Back Schemes” need regulation – and fast. Equity Release Schemes and Home Reversion Plans are already well regulated and people are protected in these instances.
It goes against the grain to borrow money against the house that you have worked so hard to pay for, but many people are having to seriously consider it. They are “Asset Rich” and have insufficient income and saving, but a good deal of money in their bricks and mortar. Equity Release Schemes allow people to access this cash but there is a downside – their relatives and children will inherit a good deal less.
It is crucial that people talk to their children if they are considering this route as it will come as an unpleasant surprise if they find out later that they will not be inheriting the house, as they thought they would. Once the subject has been breached, though, many children do want they parent sot enjoy a happy and comfortable retirement and if a Home Reversion Plan is the only way forward then so be it. Rather this than seeing their parents endure a poor standard of living so that the inheritance is larger.
They are a variety of schemes out their and the eventual outcome will vary tremendously depending on which scheme is chosen. They are plenty of safeguard if the correct route is chosen and having the children involved can only help pensioners make the best possible decision. Read the rest of this entry »

More accurate costing of jobs and products is possible because each department will be charged with overhead rates which are reasonable for that department. A job or product going through different departments will be charged with the predetermined rates of those departments not a single plant wide overhead rate. The overhead cost, depending upon the type and number of departments through which a product passes, will be charged, and in this way it will be an easy job to calculate the cost of a product at any stage that may be the requirement of the organization.
As the cost records of the overhead are available department wise, it is easy to control and to find out the reason or reasons of any variance.
There are two main types or class of departments. One is the producing department which is engaged in actual manufacturing of the products by changing the shape, form or nature of the materials worked upon, or by just assembling the parts into a finished product. A few examples of producing departments are spinning departments, weaving departments, finishing departments cutting departments etc. The other one is the service department which produces nothing but helps in production indirectly by rendering services to other departments. A few examples of services departments are repairing department, purchasing departments, storage departments, cafeteria, inspection etc.
The number and type of departments in which a manufacturing concern will be divided largely depends on the nature of its business, size, and requirements. A small size of a manufacturing concern may be having only one department and big concern may have many departments. But the number of department should be such that should help for the smooth running of all operations rather than being a cause of the red tapeism.
There are no hard and fast rules for the establishment of departments. The most common approach is to divide the factory along lines of functional activities or group of activities constituting a department. For proper control of factory overhead and accuracy in costing production, the division of factory into separate, interrelated and independently governed units is required, Read the rest of this entry »
